Recently I was told by my wonderful store owners who know all the McDonald's rumors in the world that we were getting rid of the XL in March and eventually getting foam cups (from my understanding, this is nationwide). I wanted to know if anyone else has heard of this. Frankly it doesn't bother me, but the customers are already pissed off because our only 'dollar drink' that they want so desperately is the small, and the XL/Hugo is now $1.19. (Might I mention, why do people get so upset about a 21cent increase?)
There's that and the Southern Style Chicken Biscut disappearing altogether because of poor sales. I'm not sure if it's nationwide but we've had it for more than a year now, I think, and I was told we're probably ditching it this month sometime.
Then I was glancing over a paper up in the crew room about our new breakfast dollar menu and saw something about a green chili cheeseburger. (Ew) Does anyone have that? I doubt we'll ever get it, it looks like one of the test foods to see how the public likes it.
I work near St. Louis, Missouri, just for the record. |

Does anyone have the McSkillet Jr. yet? Our patch just voted yes on it, and according to my POP calendar, we are rolling it out with smoothies on Feb. 1st. From what I understand, it's replacing the McSkillet entirely. It will be a pre-made mix, and go on the 8-inch tortilla, and will be less expensive. The McSkillet only appealed to a niche market, so they're hoping that the Jr. version will appeal to moms/students more. I'm sad to see the McSkillet go, it was my favorite breakfast item, but the mix is a pain to make, and we sell very few of them. Anyone try one of these yet? |

http://dlisted.com/node/35484 anyone on here happen to work at this store?
OK I witnessed a customer grab my GM through the DT window and try to drive off and drag her along with her. But this one is taking it to a whole new level! We should get hazard pay after this
Anyone else have similar tales?

Hey, I've been lurking a while, and yeah. Crew member in a store in North Idaho.
I usually close when I'm on the schedule, and pretty much after my training was done and my store was sure I'd stick around, I became the person who always works as 1st bitch booth (taking DT orders). When I'm working day shifts, I tend to get put in 2nd booth (presenting) if I'm not in 1st. Does anyone else get stuck working the same position in the store all the time?
Anyway, the thing I really hate about closing 1st booth is washing all the dishes by hand. The Clean and Sanitary SOC made me think that perhaps this is the way that corporate wants it done, but I've always wondered this anyway: do any of you actually have dishwashers, or does everyone else really have to handwash all the dishes? It'd make closing drive-thru 10 times easier if I had a dishwasher since I might actually be able to finish with everyone else instead of being the last one to finish. |

I am doing maintenances while our normal guy is away, and am over it, but that is not the point. I have to scrub the floor of the dumpster shed and am not exactly sure how to do it. I was going to use decreaser, a brush of some type, and elbow grease but was wondering if someone could give me a better idea. Our store manager wasnt sure either. |

If you've got time, I could use some advice.
I have recently been promoted to a shift manager. At my store, there are usually 3+ managers on dayside, so unless you're running the shift, you are expected to work as a crew person. Basically today my store manager told another manager and myself that we were the weakest, and worst managers. She was very polite about it. She then explained to me why we were. She said that as a new manager, i have this thing about me, where i feel i shouldn't have to do 'crew things' and while i know this may sound ridiculous, i do all of the things i did while i was crew, however, i have noticed i am more reluctant to do some things, and may have this attitude, that i wouldn't have had. or minded doing as crew. She told me that i tend to freak out under pressure. And again, she's right. I was promoted at the end of october. The overnight manager quit, and i was the only person able to take their spot, (being 17, out of school, without kids) without having to call in someone from another store 30 miles away.(our store recently stopped doing the overnights) So i don't have much experience running the shift during high income hours. I tend to either a)freak the hell out, or b) shut down and be lost. If i freak out, everyone else freaks out knowing i am lost, or confused or in over my head. If i shut down, no one has any guidance and they're running around with their heads cut off. I am only 17 years old. Everyone i work with is 18+ as a crew person(and a teenager) i wanted to be friends with everyone, and i wanted everyone to like me. I can say that i achieved that for the most part. But now as a manager, everyone still thinks of me as their friend, and not their boss. I am not taken seriously. Have you been in the same situation? I need guidance and help. I've gone to my store manager, and she doesn't understand. I've asked for help, but she keeps telling me that it will get better in time. I do believe that, because I know I will get better in time, i just think i could help myself, my team, and my store out a lot more, if i worked on it, instead of waiting for it to work on me.

At the moment, I am covering for our fulltime maintenance guy while he is on holiday, but I am only doing four hours. This week, I am only doing 4, because they needed me for New Years Eve close (I am the only person available who has done closes regularly and can get out on time for cafe close). Next week I have 6 maintenances and one cafe close.
I have not done much maintenance at all because of no shows, sickies, dodgy rostering and understaffing. Tuesday was a whammy; walkers (truck) guy no showed, and I had to help and then do dining room and lot pickup. When I was doing lot pick up, I got yelled at to run back because we had no service person and had to stay on service because there was no one else.
Wednesday; no cafe open person. I had been joking that I would have to do it, and I did. The girl who was meant to do it was sick and couldnt call up because her phone was disconnected (we found this out when we rang her). I got cafe set up, did lot pick up quickly and then did cafe until the next girl got there. |

Decoding McDonalds Talk Customers When they say: | It means: | “I want a large coke with no ice” | “I want more than I’m paying for | “Does that look like no onions to you?” | “I’m an asshole and I want to make you as pissed off as I am rather than just explain my problem and let you fix it” | “Why does my reciept show an extra charge for my drink when it’s supposed to come with the meal?” | “I’m an idiot and can’t do math to figure out that you ring it up separate and the total amount matches the menu board” | “Can I have that McChicken fresh and with extra lettuce?” | “I’m cheap and I want to pick you dry for as much as possible for my one dollar?” | “What all comes on a Big Breakfast?” | “I like hotcakes, but I can’t read” | “Can I have fries with no salt?” | “I want fresh fries.-and I’m a dick.” |
Crew When they say: | It means: | “Who’s coming to this station when I get off?” | “I’m going to be off soon, and I want to make sure you’re not gonna forget about me” | “Who is running shift tonight?” | “I want to know if I should call in, or if I’ll be able to get away with murder tonight”. | “What time do I work tomorrow?” | “I’m too lazy to read/learn how to read the schedule” |

The store i work at went from 24 hours, to 5 am - 11 pm sunday through thursday, and 24 hours, on friday and saturday. I Closed last night, and kept the headset on to inform those who were unbelievably inattentive, and did not notice that i had turned all the lot lights off, everything was pretty much off inside. I was yelled at, cursed at, and some people would bang on the drive thru windows.
I know it may sound like a lot, but it wasn't that bad. Have you ever been treated like complete shit for closing early, or just in general? |
